One of the things I love most about living and working in this area is that there is always something happening. Summer in the Mesilla Valley is full of reasons to get out and experience this community — and if you're thinking about moving here, these are the kinds of events that will show you who Las Cruces really is.

Here are a few highlights to put on your calendar.

Mesilla Summer Music Series Every Friday evening from 8–10 p.m., live music fills the Mesilla Plaza. It's free, it's local, and it's the kind of gathering that reminds you why this plaza has been the heart of community life in the Mesilla Valley for generations. Bring a blanket and arrive early.

Farmers & Crafts Market of Las Cruces Every Saturday morning, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., downtown Main Street transforms into seven blocks of local vendors — produce, art, jewelry, ceramics, food, and more. It's a Las Cruces institution. Whether you're a longtime resident or newly arrived, this is one of the best ways to connect with the fabric of this city.

First Friday Art Ramble On the first Friday of every month, downtown Main Street and the Plaza de Las Cruces come alive with over 80 fine art vendors from 5–10 p.m. This is a community that takes its arts seriously, and the ramble reflects that.

July 4th Concert & Fireworks The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation puts on one of the best Independence Day celebrations in the region at Pat & Lou Sisbarro Community Park. Live music, food vendors, and fireworks over the Organ Mountains — it's a genuinely memorable evening.

Wine Country in the Valley If you haven't explored the wineries of the Mesilla Valley, summer is a great time to start. Mesilla Valley Wine and Brew Tours offers shuttle service so you can enjoy without the logistics.
